Exports of agricultural products in March reached $ 842 million compared to $ 1.9 billion last year, but the actual result was actually lower. Agrarian Policy Minister Nikolai Solsky spoke about this in an interview with Economic Truth.
He clarified that in physical volumes, these values are translated as 3.5 million tonnes of grain and 1.4 million tonnes, respectively. But the physical volume of products exported this March only reached 200 thousand tons, as most of the exports were actually exported in February and formally documented in March.
According to Solsky, exports of all commodity groups fell, but above all – grain crops and vegetable oils, mainly sunflower.
He mentioned that March was not much of an indication, as the war only started on February 24, so in March everyone was focused on the war, some of the workers started looking for ways to export differently and improve the process. .
“Obviously, it’s the” bottom “for a million reasons. Now it’s evolving without a doubt. We need a little bit of time. There’s a lot to do, it won’t be done in a month,” the minister said.
He recalled that before the war, there were approximately 5 million tons of exports through Ukrainian ports every month, the minister notes.
In addition, there are now 20 million tonnes of last year’s harvest that need to be released in the spring. According to him, if another condition of 30 million tons of this crop is added, then it will have to be exported “for many years.”
Today, the main transportation for it is the railroad, rather than the formerly dominant ports.
Earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine had found at least three options for exporting products during the war.
