Farmers in Peru have lost all hope of supplying urea and are only waiting for the consequences for the end consumer. Eduardo Contreras, General Manager National Confederation of the Peruvian Water Council in RPP Noticias.
“The impact on the producer is already being felt, but for end-user will be felt from next year. In the markets, the price and quantity of grams is already changing,” the spokesman said.
Although the reasons are obvious, Contreras blamed these consequences on urea retention, whose procurement process was interrupted due to mismanagement, according to the leader. This has caused farmers to lose hope, who feel their orders are being ignored.
Nothing is expected from the Minister
“We didn’t ask the minister for anything else, because everything we asked him for, he did the opposite. no, and be able to see what actions will be taken,” the leader explained.
They lost hope not only in the leadership of the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Luis Alencastre, but also in the arrival of fertilizers, so they did not stop working.despite the absence of this entry.
“The farmer did not stop working, despite the fact that urea was very expensive – S / 200, when it cost 60 or 80 soles, he still bought his resources, and he had to plant. What was seen was that there was less intention to plant and reduce national production and, logically, what was felt was a loss for the small and medium producer.”, he expressed.
Urea is not the only need
As you know, urea is the main fertilizer used in the north of the country; however, he is not the only one referred to by the leader. The concern is that all the baseline data is not available and they fear that the government will not give them a solution.
“There are several types of fertilizers that are used, critical – urea, which is used most often, but urea is the percentage, we are concerned that the process was not carried out properly,” he said.
