47% of company employees Latin America According to a survey conducted by the consulting company EY, they assure that in the next 12 months they will leave their jobs in search of better opportunities.

According to the Work Reimagined 2022 study, these employees are willing to leave their jobs for higher pay, better career opportunities and flexibility.

“Across the world, we are seeing employees, especially younger ones, make job transition decisions faster to access new opportunities for growth and flexibility, and Peru not an exception. This trend has emerged across industries and functional areas in recent months and is expected to continue,” said Pilar Quinteros, Senior Consulting Manager at EY Peru, of the 22-country survey.

33% of employees who would like to retire, equivalent to three out of 10 employees, indicate that their main goal at present is to increase wages. At the same time, 24% of employees who quit their jobs seek professional growth.

Of all respondents in Latin America, only 17% are looking for any form distant work in another company and another 17% say wellness programs would encourage them to move.

Although the percentage of those who want to work completely remotely is not as high, 88% of employees indicated that they would prefer to work remotely at least two days a week.

Who would quit?

The study shows that in Latin America, 76% of Gen Z and millennial workers are the most likely to quit their jobs this year. That is, almost eight out of 10 young employees are ready to leave their position.

In terms of sectors, the study states that collaborators are the most likely to leave their jobs. technology and software, as well as those working in government and the public sector.

“Employees around the world feel empowered to leave their jobs if their expectations are not met. As employers offer more and more flexible approaches, higher pay is now the biggest motivation to change jobs,” said he, Carolina Gonzalez, presenter Partner at People Advisory Services in EY North Latin America.

Performance

68% of workers in the region believe that performance increased during the pandemic, but only 38% of employers think so.

For companies, productivity was driven by hybrid work (90%), improved technology in the workplace (41%), and giving employees more empowerment and autonomy (44%).
