The Office of the President believes that up to 60 billion a month can be “printed” without economic losses. In the NBU, the controlled release is considered half.
Ukraine can issue hryvnias from 30 to 60 billion hryvnias per month. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President Rostislav Shurma in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
He believes that this is possible with the balance of export-import operations, solving the issue of public debt repayment and significant support from international partners.
“This is a range that will not create problems. For example, we have unblocked the situation with grain, then, thanks to a 10% fee for foreign exchange transactions, we will remove $ 1-2 billion of speculative demand for money. If the level of support for partners continues, it means that the balance of payments is equal, that is, we can provide budget support of more than UAH 30 billion per month without significant risk for money,” Shurma said.
The National Bank sees the possibility of a controlled release of a maximum of UAH 30 billion per month.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the war, the NBU has released almost 260 billion hryvnias.
At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada has a bill proposing to allow the NBU to print money without restrictions.
