McDonald’s announced the continuation of work in Ukraine

The company decided to introduce a phased plan to reopen some restaurants in Kyiv and western Ukraine.

The network of fast food restaurants McDonald’s will work again in Ukraine. This was announced by Paul Pomeroy, senior vice president of McDonald’s International Markets business unit, on Thursday, August 11.

“After long consultations and discussions with Ukrainian officials, suppliers and security professionals, and in response to the request of our employees to return to work, we have decided to introduce a gradual plan to reopen some restaurants in Kyiv and western Ukraine, where other businesses have safely resumed operations,” he said.

Over the next several months, McDonald’s will work with partners to resume food delivery at restaurants, prepare establishments for customer service, return employees to work environments, and implement improved procedures and protocol to keep staff and customers safe, Pomeroy said.

McDonald’s decision was welcomed by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.

“The return of a large American company is, first of all, a signal for international business about the opportunity to work in Ukraine, even despite the war conditions. These are jobs and taxes to the Ukrainian budget, the survival of our economy in times of Russian aggression. This, after all, is part of the restoration of Ukraine, “said the minister.

Earlier in Russia, after a three-month downtime, former McDonald’s fast food restaurants resumed work. They got the name Tasty and that was it. The restaurant chain itself was sold to an entrepreneur from Kuzbass, Alexander Govor, who, since 2015, manages 25 restaurants in Siberia on a franchise basis.
