Economy Minister Curt Burneo and the President of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) met today. Julio Velarde initiate the coordination of measures to maintain the economic stability of the country.
The meeting between the two main authorities of the Peruvian economy took place after the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) pointed out the need to harmonize the company’s monetary policy with the fiscal policy of its portfolio.
Despite the doubts that this statement might have raised, the meeting burning he stressed his absolute respect for the autonomy of the central bank.
The newly appointed minister argued that both institutions share the same common goal of supporting macroeconomic stability.
For this reason, taking into account the current challenges that have to be faced due to external influences, the Minister considered it necessary to improve coordination between the IEF and the BCR.
“In the face of the challenges posed by the international situation and the attention to the needs of our populations, it is essential to have greater influence in formulating monetary and fiscal policy actions and for them to complement each other. . We will strive for greater harmony and coordination, given that we share a common goal macroeconomic stability”, said the minister.
Burneo said that this ongoing coordination with the BCR is part of the main goal, which is to stimulate the economy and create wealth with equal opportunity for all Peruvians.
“This is the goal of public policy and requires the joint work of public institutions, where FEM and BCRs play a fundamental role,” he said.
He added that his leadership at MEF will focus on restoring confidence in the management of the country’s economy, encouraging public and private investment, and working towards a productive agenda to create quality jobs.
State budget 2023
On the other hand, Burneo revealed that the MEF is already working on the wording of the draft law “State Budget, Financial Balance and Public Sector Debt for 2023”.
Work is also underway on the Multi-Year Macroeconomic Program for 2023-2026, which projections official data on the economy, including GDP.
