The increase in the export of Ukrainian electricity is a step towards the creation of a pan-European energy security system, Ukrenergo said.
Between Ukraine and Poland began to restore the interstate power line. This will increase the export of Ukrainian electricity by almost 1,000 MW, NPC Ukrenergo reported on Tuesday, August 9.
It is indicated that the corresponding framework agreement was signed by NEC Chairman of the Board Vladimir Kudritsky and President of the Polish transmission system operator PSE SA SE SA Eric Klossowski.
“Exports to Poland resumed a few weeks after the synchronization of the Ukrainian power system with the power grid of continental Europe and now stand at 215 MW. Putting the restored interconnector into operation early next year could the physical capacity for the export of Ukrainian electricity to Poland increased by almost 1,000 MW,” – said the message.
This project was implemented in compliance with a memorandum between the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment. The document was signed in June of this year.
Ukrenergo emphasized that the increase in Ukrainian electricity exports is a step towards the creation of a pan-European system of energy security.
“Ukraine’s electricity is a good alternative to Russian gas in the European market,” the company reminded.
Recall that Ukraine earned more than 720 million Hryvnia in the first month of exporting electricity to the European Union.
And at the end of July, the EU allowed to increase the export of electricity from Ukraine to Europe by two and a half times.
