Ukraine intends to buy Marder infantry fighting vehicle directly from the manufacturer – the German company Rheinmetall. The German edition of Bild am Sonntag (BamS) writes about it on Sunday, April 10. According to him, the machine-building enterprise headquartered in Düsseldorf intends to deliver 35 infantry fighting vehicles to Kiev by the end of years.
Initially, Rheinmetall offered the German Armed Forces to immediately transfer the battle -ready Marder to Ukraine, and then accept the completed equipment from the manufacturer. However, it was opposed by the German Ministry of Defense.
At the same time, the agency did not assess the condition of the BMP and the need for their inspection and maintenance, BamS pointed out. In addition, at the end of March, Rheinmetall turned to Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht on the issue of buying 4 million rounds of ammunition for infantry vehicles and delivering them to Ukraine, but the company did not receive of the response, the newspaper wrote.
