Consortium Camiseadedicated to the production of automotive natural gas (NGV), has launched a new bonus to promote the use and mass use of this fuel.
The initiative, called Bono Camisea GNV, is to provide economic support of up to $15,000 to drivers in Lima and Callao who decide to replace their car with one that is used by LNG.
With this measure, they hope to subsidize the purchase of more than 3,000 new buses, trucks or tractors that will enter the fleet to replace old vehicles.
The inclusion of the new fleet is planned to be implemented within three years, which will increase the number of units using natural gas in Peru.
As specified, both individuals and legal entities (companies) can apply under the program, but what does this subsidy consist of?
“The purpose of the $33.5 million fund provided by the Camisea consortium is to provide an economic bonus of up to $15,000 that is non-refundable, meaning it is not a loan, but a benefit that is given so that freight carriers and urban transport can own cars. that run on compressed natural gas,” said Jeanine Delgado, External Relations Manager at Pluspetrol.
Delgado notes that, for example, the use of natural gas saves more than 50% of what is spent on diesel fuel.
They add that, unlike oil or gasoline, LNG This fuel is more environmentally friendly as it emits less polluting particles.
