German defense concern Rheinmetall will build a 155 mm caliber in Latvia in Latvia. This was reported by the company’s press service on Thursday, September 25th.
It is indicated that the corresponding memorandum is now signed in Hamburg with the presence of the prime minister of Latvia Eviki Silini. The plant is operated by the combined adventure of the Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GMBH (51%) and the Latvian State Defense Corporation (49%).
“The production line will include the most modern production, including the line of removal and filling of the sleeves. Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2026, and the start of production is expected about a year later. Investments in the amount of 275 million euros will allow the plant to do ten -ten -year -old artillers level, “the report said.
Earlier it was learned that Rheinmetall would build a plant for making shells in Ukraine. The company has already received a plot of land for construction. The methods for launching a new combined production are also -finalized.
It is also reported that by the end of this year, RheinMetall will provide the Apu Skyranger for falling drones.
