The government has determined the privatization of two state banks – the bank’s senses and Ukrgazbank. This is stated in the Draft Cabinet program of Ukraine ministers, registered at Parliament.
The project should still be approved by Verkhovna Rada.
One of the main goals is to reduce the state share in the banking sector. Gradually privatization should contribute to the development of the competitive market and increase the efficiency of the banking system.
It was planned to adopt a resolution before October 31, 2025 with the approval of the procedure for attracting a counselor to sell banks. This will be the first step to prepare bank senses and Ukrgazbank for privatization.
The document provides for the regulation of the competitive choice of such a counselor. He will accompany the preparation of the transaction and review the property of financial institutions.
In 2026, until October 31, the government should take steps to attract a counselor. Thereafter, it was planned to decide on the start of selling bank senses and Ukrgazbank.
The start of privatization of both banks is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
Earlier it was reported that the state of Ukrgazbank was selling its central office in the Pechersky District of capital for 317.9 million hryvnias.
