The Avtovaz plant is practically quitting the mass serial production of Lada Aura Business Sedan due to excessive sales. The line stopped in July 2025. The pro-government Telegram Channel Mash reported it.
The demand became weak so the plant did not return to significant production. Avtovaz himself said there was no question of the complete folding project – “The model is available in the volumes needed for the market.” Project investments cost 3.2 billion rubles.
The car’s serial production in October 2024 was personally launched by Vladimir Putin. Lada Aura was originally positioned as a premium version of Lada Vesta.
The head of Avtovaz, Maxim Sokolov, said Toyota Camry is not less in terms of comfort level, and the target group of customers is federal and municipal officials. Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and financial minister Anton Siluanov took part in the promotion of Lada Aura.
Also, Kremlin’s owner personally got in the car in July 2024, opening a new track to the Tver Tver. Last year, Siluanov called Lada Aura a “comfortable and comfortable car”, noting that he had personally experienced it while driving, and the Ministry of Finance “bought five like machines”.
However, Russian officials are not interested in Toyota Camry’s “domestic analogue”. For eight months of 2025, only 792 cars were sold. Of these, private consumers bought 53%, and 47% corporate customers.
Consumers are dissatisfied with quality: complaints are reminiscent of cabin noise, electronics failures, brake defects, a error variator and, most importantly, prices from 2.6 million rubles to lack of climate control in basic adjustment.
In Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Samara Region, the non -recorded cars remained with the seller.
As we have already written, the market for new Russian cars in the first half of the year has been reduced by 26.3% – up to 530,375 cars. At the same time, sales of new luxury cars grew 19% – from January to June 320 such vehicles were sold in the country.
The head of the premium segment was the brand of Rolls -Royce – 100 cars were sold, 56% more for the same period last year. The segment part is 31%. The second place was taken by Bentley with 90 sold cars (+4%). Next are Lamborghini (72 cars, -5%), Ferrari (43 cars, +115%), Aston Martin (11 cars, +83%) and Maserati (4 cars, -75%).
