Growing costs and problems with the plant in Wolfsburg has postponed the company’s plans for almost a year.
Volkswagen has removed the launch of the electrical version of the cult golf, as well as a new electric crossover, Electk reports. It was previously expected that Golf EV would be on 2028, but now its primary can only take place by the end of the decade.
The delay is associated with increasing the cost of modernizing the plant in Wolfsburg, where golf is made. Earlier, the company planned to move the manufacture of a model of the fuel model in Mexico, and to released capabilities from 2027 to start making an electric hatchback. However, due to budget restrictions, the launch was postponed, as well as electric T-roc manufacture.
The situation is complicated by technical business problems: according to the insider, conveyors are sometimes unemployed due to equipment failures, which can reduce the manufacture of thousands of machines weekly.
According to Bloomberg, Volkswagen is considering the new investment budget for 2026-2030, which can reach nearly € 160 billion to provide modernization and launching new models.
Remember that it was previously reported that in the IAA Mobility 2025 Volkswagen Exhibition showed a line of more affordable electric vehicles, among the novelty -a compact ID. Id.every1.
Volkswagen sold one and a half million ID -electric vehicles
