In August, consumer prices in Ukraine decreased by 0.2% compared to last month. In the annual measurement, the inflation rate slowed down to 13.2%. This was reported by the Ukraine State Statistics Service on Tuesday, September 9.
“In August 2025, consumer prices dropped 0.2%compared to July, 13.2%increased since August 2024. The main inflation in August 2025 compared to July costs 0.5%, since August 2024 -11.4%,” the report said.
In the Consumer market in August, food prices and soft drinks were reduced by 0.8%. Most (by 12.7% and 10.2%), vegetables and fruits fell. Prices for rice and sugar were reduced by 1.5% and 1.0%.
At the same time, prices for oil, eggs, meat and meat products, fish and fish products, soft drinks, milk, bread, cheese, sunflower oil, butter, and oil grew 4.5-0.4%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.8%, which is associated with the increase in cost of tobacco products by 2.0%.
It is noted that food prices and alcoholic beverages remain major factors that affect the annual inflation level. Thus, food products increased in prices by 20.5%for the year, alcohol and tobacco products – by 19.2%.
Clothes and shoes in August fell to 3.2%compared to July, in particular, shoes – by 3.9%, clothing – by 2.7%.
In the field of communication, prices rise by 2.7%, which is associated with increasing tariffs for mobile communications by 4.7%.
Remember that in July in Ukraine they recorded a reduction in consumer prices for the first time in the last two years.
In recent years, food prices in Ukraine have grown faster than European Union countries. Thus, the products for products in Ukraine approached Europe, and some even exceeded them.
