Due to the hot weather, the vegetation of the plant in the fields is accelerated significantly, which is strictly increased supply in the market.
Improving weather conditions in Ukraine allowed watermelon producers to continue an active fee, causing an increase in supply of products in the market. Analysts reported it Eastfruit.
According to farmers, the price situation is exacerbated by the fact that the main part of the supply is large -caliber products, the demand of which is weak. Pustom companies and retail networks reduce the purchases of such watermelons to a minimum, determining the extra low speed of retail sales.
So, now prices for melons have dropped to 5-15 UAH/kg, which is on average 31% cheaper than the end of the last working week.
“Manufacturers are explaining the negative price dynamics through a sharp increase in the supply of these products in the market. Due to the hot weather, the speed of the plant ripening in the fields is significantly accelerated,” the analysts said.
At the same time, drought in the southern regions negatively affects the quality of watermelons, which improves the rate of reduction in prices.
However, today watermelon in Ukraine has been implemented on average of 78% more expensive than mid -August 2024.
In this regard, industry experts do not predict a noticeable improvement in the market situation. According to them, only high justifications can increase prices, and the supply of such products to the market is limited. At the same time, watermelons weighing from 5 kg will continue to fall, as farmers will try to speed up the implementation rate in this way to sell volumes as soon as possible.
Earlier it was reported that in Kherson, watermelon grew in the central market, which fell to the pavement. A video appeared on the web.
As you know, before the entire Russian invasion, Khersonchin raised 35-40% of the total number of Ukraine melons.
