So far, sowing is ahead of last year’s pace, but as a result, the sown area will be 20% less.
1.07 million hectares of land have already been sown in Ukraine, which is 7.9% of the 13.44 million hectares planned for the current season, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported on Friday, April 8th.
Thus, the sowing campaign takes place in all regions of Ukraine except the Lugansk region, where battles are fought almost throughout the territory.
It is learned that the total sowing rate in 2022 is 14% ahead of last year’s figures – 1.07 million hectares have been sown compared to 0.94 million hectares last year.
According to the ministry, due to the war in 2022, during the spring sowing, it is planned to reduce the sown area by 20.5% – from 16.92 million hectares to 13.44 million hectares.
At the same time, last year winter crops were sown for the 2022 harvest in a total area of 7.7 million hectares, including 6.5 million hectares of winter wheat, 1 million hectares of barley and 0.16 million hectares of rye.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine will reduce the area under crops by 25-30% due to the military invasion of the Russian Federation, but in general the campaign is provided with fuel and funds.
