The Japanese automaker plans to make up to 100 thousand Electric vehicles per year in the Czech Republic business, starting in 2028.
Toyota aims to start the serial production of electric vehicles in the Czech Republic since 2028, reports Nikkei Asia.
The local Toyota company will serve as a platform. Production will focus on electric crossovers, the estimated annual volume is about 100 thousand units.
Although the demand for electric cars in Europe was slightly reduced – in 2024, sales fell 1% to 1.99 million units, and part in the total market of new cars decreased from 15.7% to 15.4% – the continent was still more active consumer of de -electrical vehicles than Japan. There, the proportion of electrical cars in the market does not exceed 2%.
Until 2026, the company plans to have 14 models of electrical vehicles in the European market, including the updated version of the BZ4X crossover and the new C-HR+.
Toyota is probably considering the localization of making the EU policy adaptation key, where from 2035 the sale of new cars with internal combustion engines is prohibited – except for synthetic fuel models. The manufacturer also expressed the goal of achieving complete carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040.
