In the first half of 2025, Tesla disappeared from the title of the leader in electric vehicles in the region. According to Insideevs, Tesla sales in EU countries, Eut and Great Britain fell 33% compared to the same period last year – up to 108878 cars.
At the same time, Volkswagen increased the supply of 78%, which sells 133465 electric vehicles. Thus, the German brand toured the American competitor in 24587 cars and became the new leader in the European electric car market.
Other traditional automakers have also increased one part. BMW took place in the third place with 93576 selling de -electrical cars (+14%), Skoda -Fourth with 70947 sold cars (+146%), thanks to the popularity of the new Elroq model and updated Enyaq. Renault closed five, selling 63704 electric car (+58%) – mainly thanks to the Renault 5 model.
Although Tesla maintained leadership in June the number of electric cars sold, it was not enough to maintain the first place for the end of half a year. However, in June, Tesla also united with five who showed a denial – by 21%compared to last year’s results. At the same time, Volkswagen added 9%, BMW – 16%, Skoda – 189%, and Renault – 23%.
The most popular electric cars in Europe in the first half of the year were Tesla Model Y, Model 3, as well as Volkswagen ID.4, ID.7 and ID.3.
Overall, the European electric car market increased by 24% – from 944858 cars for the first half of 2024 to 1177051 this year.
