Prices for watermelons drop to 5-14 UAH/kg, depending on the quality and volume of the proposed parties, which is on average 36% cheaper than the end of the last week of work.
In Ukraine, watermelon prices continue to decrease rapidly due to a sharp increase in market supply. This was reported by the Eastfruit tracking platform.
“Due to the hot and sunny weather, established, the speed of this culture ripening in the fields is significantly accelerated. At the same time, the drought observed in the southern fields negatively affects the quality of watermelons, which improves the rate of reduction in prices in this segment,” said project analysts.
Currently, prices for watermelons from local farms have dropped to 5-14 UAH/kg, depending on the quality and volume of the suggested parties, which is on average 36% cheaper than the end of the last working week.
It is noted that Ukrainian manufacturers are forced to sell watermelons at lower prices even in the context of reducing the manufacture of this culture in the country. The major regions of growing watermelons, especially the Kherson region, are now under temporary work. In addition, at the present time, due to adverse weather conditions, many manufacturers have also lost part of the harvesting of these melons.
Vacation prices for watermelons in Ukraine are on average 28% less than the end of July 2024. At the same time, the manufacturers themselves will not exclude the possibility of further decline in prices, as the offer of not only local, but also imported watermelon is growing daily, and the demand for them is restrained.
Remember that in Ukraine, purchase prices for apples of a new crop that change within 60-70 hryvnia per kilogram, which is on average 2.9 times more expensive than the beginning of the previous season.
