Ukraine sells electricity to European countries within a month after connecting to the EU power grid,
In the coming days, electricity exports from Ukraine to Europe will double and will continue to grow in the future, the Ministry of Energy reported on Wednesday, July 27.
“The management of ENTSO-E noted that it is planned to increase exports in the near future. This week, its volume will double, further growth will continue,” the report said.
Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, following a meeting with ENTSO-E chairman Joachim Vanzetta and network secretary general Sonia Twochig, noted that Ukraine can help Europe to compensate for the lack of gas by increasing the export of Ukrainian electricity.
He added that relevant decisions should be taken as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Energy believes that with the help of Ukrainian electricity, the EU can save 5-6 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Recall that on June 27, ENTSO-E agreed on the start of commercial export of Ukrainian electricity to EU countries. And the import-export of electricity to Romania for 100 MW started on June 30. In almost a month, Ukraine exported electricity worth UAH 500 million.
