The source will collect the corroborating facts of the theft of Ukrainian metal and grain by the Russian invaders.
The Russian Piracy Research Initiative (ISRP) launched the RussiaTheftWatch project to document the theft of Ukrainian products by Russia. On Tuesday, July 26, the chief representative of the ISRP, former US Deputy Secretary of State James K. Glassman, said.
The first report of the ISRP was also presented at the press conference, which already contains all the documented facts of the theft of Ukrainian grain and metal products by Russia, in particular, satellite images, data from navigation companies and ISRP resources in different countries of the world. . In total, the report identified approximately 50 separate incidents of Ukrainian grain theft.
The report also states that stolen metal products are delivered directly to Russian industrial sites, where they are used for local production. And the grain is sent directly to Turkey or Syria. Sometimes it “passed” through Russian ports to hide its origin.
In the future, the ISRP plans to present conclusions on how to mitigate the consequences of theft – in particular, mechanisms for transferring frozen assets of the Russian Federation to Ukraine.
As you know, the Russian Federation has already exported from the occupied territories about 500,000 tons of Ukrainian grain worth more than $ 100 million, as well as several ships with metal products from business of Mariupol.
The Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, located in Mariupol, have already applied to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to open criminal proceedings on the theft of their Russian products.
In turn, Metinvest co-owner Rinat Akhmetov said that SCM will demand compensation from Russia for “the cynical loading of Ukrainian steel on its ships in Mariupol,” which is theft and a violation of international that law.
