The problem of repairing the brake pedal axis can lead to its removal and increase the risk of accidents.
Honda announced the recall of more than 259 thousand cars to the United States due to a defect that could lead to a brake pedal removal, Reuters reported.
According to US Road Safety Directorate documents, the review covers several Honda Pilot release models 2023-2025, as well as the Acura Premium Brand-Tlx 2021-2025 and MDX 2023-2025 of the model years.
The report records that the brake pedal axis may not be properly fixed during labor. As such, the pedal can move from the right position, causing accidental braking or, conversely, preventing the car, which increases the risk of accident.
The Honda company explained in its statement that the problem could also cause unusual sensations when forcing the pedal, the appearance of a warning indicator on the instrument panel or even the ongoing burning of stop-signals, even if the pedal was not pressed.
The owners of cars falling under the review are recommended to contact official entrepreneurs for validation. If necessary, the brake pedal unit will be replaced for free. Honda’s note that the defect was detected by approximately 1% of cars from total.
From February to the beginning of June 2024, the company received three warranty appeals on this issue, however, no cases received about any cases of injury.
Honda began the investigation in April 2024 after the first message about the malfunction. It later appeared that the defect appeared at the supplier of the United States supplier, which has since stopped working. The production was moved to Mexico, where a camera was used for visual control of proper pedal axis.
We remind you, earlier reported that Honda remembered more than 290 thousand cars in the United States.
