The National Bank of Ukraine has decided to revoke the banking license and liquidate Kharkiv Megabank. This was reported on the regulator’s website on Friday, July 22.
“The National Bank of Ukraine, at the suggestion of the Deposit Guarantee Fund for Individuals, made a decision dated July 21, 2022 No. 362-rsh to revoke the banking license and liquidate Megabank,” the message said.
According to the NBU, as of March 1, 2022, Megabank ranked 24th (UAH 11.193 billion) in terms of assets among 69 operating Ukrainian financial institutions.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, as of January 1, 2022, the main shareholders of Megabank are Viktor Subbotin – 60.74% (direct and indirect participation), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) – 11.3%, the German development bank KfW – 11, 3%, Maxim Efimov – 9.8%, Elena Subbotina – 7.8% and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – 4.5%.
It will be recalled that in early June, the National Bank decided to recognize Megabank as insolvent. Then the regulator said that Megabank did not eliminate the identified violations in a timely manner.
