The Chinese auto giant Byd first caught Tesla in terms of sales of electric vehicles in Europe, according to Bloomberg.
According to the Jato Dynamics Analysts, in April 2024, BYD registered 7231 European cars in Europe, which was 169% more than last year’s last year. It allowed the company to not only enter the ten most popular brands of electric vehicles into the European market, but also the first time to get around the volume of American Tesla sales.
Despite the customs and costs of transportation of cars from China, BYD has managed to strengthen its position in Europe, which Tesla leads. In April, the number of registered TESLAs decreased by 49% compared to the same month of last year, and the gap between the two companies became minimal – only 66 cars.
At the same time, Volkswagen remains the head of the European electric car market, which in April registered 23,514 cars (+61% of last year). The second place is occupied by BMW with 14,867 registrations (+5%), and the third and fourth conquered skoda (+214%) and Audi -both brands are part of Volkswagen’s remembrance. Five Renaults, followed by Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Hyundai, Byd and Tesla.
Overall, the Europe’s electric vehicle market in April grew 28%, re -emphasized the size of Tesla’s collapse. According to the same data, the Swedish Volvo brand belonging to Chinese Geely also showed a negative dynamics – a reduction of 43%.
In addition to electrical cars, BYD actively promotes Europe and plug-in hybrids that do not fall under an increase of myth imposed on electrical vehicles. Due to sales of hybrids, the total sales of BYD in Europe for April grew a wonderful 359%.
