Finland may send money from the sale of confiscated bitcoins to support Ukraine.
In Finland, customs sold confiscated bitcoins worth a total of 46.5 million euros. This was reported on the Finnish state television and radio company Yle’s portal on Thursday, July 21.
“1,889.1 bitcoins were sold for 46.5 million euros,” the message said.
Customs officials have previously confiscated these bitcoins, which are used in drug and doping trafficking.
At the same time, customs still has about 90 bitcoins, as well as other confiscated virtual currencies.
The Helsingin Sanomat newspaper previously wrote that Finland could send money from the sale of confiscated bitcoins to support Ukraine. Then Finance Minister Annika Saarikko said she “can’t think of a better use for this money than supporting Ukraine.”
