The Chinese and Russian sides will discuss the gas pipeline project, which for years has been delayed due to disagreements.
China and Russia Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin leaders will continue negotiations with the gas pipeline project of Siberia-2’s strength, which should connect the two economies. Bloomberg reported this on Wednesday, May 7.
According to resources familiar with the course of negotiations, Xi Jinping is probably ready to come out at the dead point, agree to discuss a higher gas price than ever before.
Today China is seeking to set a price that will be between the internal gas price in Russia and the tariff, where Siberian gas gas is purchased through the gas pipeline, which began working in 2019.
Despite the development, the disagreement remains. China insists that a direct route, avoid the road through Mongolia. Siberia’s first gas pipeline connects Russia and China directly, however, other routes have previously been considered for the second project.
Another uncertain factor in negotiations is that the US attempts to establish closer contacts with Russia in the energy sector, including possible partnership with Gazprom.
The power of Siberia-2 will allow Russia to supplement 50 billion cubic gas meters each year and give China the opportunity to replace the more expensive imports of liquid natural gas.
Earlier it was reported that the Siberia-2 gas pipeline project, which was required, to replace the lost market in Europe for the Russian Gazprom, was moving very slowly due to the position occupied by China.
