The maximum power exports from Ukraine and Moldova to EU countries increased to 650 MW. This was announced by Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko on Facebook on Thursday, May 1st.
“An increase in the maximum export capacity is positive for Ukraine – both as an additional possibility of balancing the energy system without generation restrictions, and as a tool for making additional income from foreign trade and state budget filling,” he wrote.
Galushchenko recalled that since March 2024 and still the maximum power exports from Ukraine and Moldova has been defined in 550 MW.
“Currently, Ukraine is trafficking in electricity along with all neighboring European countries: Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Moldova. In the spring, export volumes are growing, and imports are reduced,” the minister recalls.
Remember that from December 1, 2024, Ukraine imported up to 2.1 GW of electricity from the European Union.
It was also reported that in March, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 11% compared to February to 272,000 MWT. Hungary is the greatest supplier.
