The giant Internet has been massively collected by its users’ personal data, without informing it and without asking for their permission, which is an excessive violation of the European Data Protection Rules (GDPR), the representatives of the plaintiff have emphasized.
More than two hundred French media companies, including TF1, France Télévisions, Radio France, Le Figaro and others, have filed a collective lawsuit against the American Meta company – the Mother’s Mother of Facebook and Instagram. They accused the internet giant “illegal practice” in the field of online advertising, especially in violation of EU standards for personal data protection (GDPR). Le Figaro reported this on Wednesday, April 23.
According to lawyers, the meta is “massive collected users’ personal data without their knowledge and permission”, using them for the Ultra -Precious target. This training, according to plaintiffs, allows the company to obtain the main part of the digital advertising market – in the destruction of traditional media.
“By running these data for super -item advertising, Meta has managed to attract most advertising investments, leaving the media with a small part,” the joint statement said.
The lawyers called this court to the “historic prior” and indicated that meta and google co -controlled 75% of the online advertising market and 90% of its growth.
The media seeks to achieve compensation for the “big -scale economic losses” caused, as they say, unscrupulous competition from the meta.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union had planned to impose a small amount of apple and metaplatforms technological companies in accordance with law in the digital market (DMA) to avoid exacerbating US president Donald Trump.
