The basic criteria that the NBU guides in managing reserves is the issues of “security, liquidity, profitability”, which gives you to use the legislation that the law determines to manage reserves.
The National Bank of Ukraine announces the possibility of correcting the structure of international reserves, most of which are stored in the US dollar. Such a change can cause events in financial markets in the world. This was said by the head of NBU Andrei Pyshny in a briefing on Thursday, April 17.
The regulator continues to monitor changes in the global environment, which may affect the effectiveness of reserve management.
“Changing the structure is rather a technical exercise. If we see the need to do it, we will do it,” Lush said.
The Deputy Head of the NBU Yuri Geletius has made it clear that gold and foreign exchange reserves can be found in the first banks and reliable financial instruments. According to him, an asset management policy is based on clear criteria: “security, liquidity, profitability.”
Currently, according to Geletius, “the lion’s part is in the US dollar.” At the same time, according to him, decisions in the structure of the reserves are exclusively based on an in -depth examination of the markets, and not conditions.
“The reserve management process, first of all, should be revoked by emotions. We must exclude any factors in the condition during the management process,” he emphasized.
Geletius added that the NBU “on an ongoing basis is regulated by the SVR” and, if necessary, ready to change the structure of the owners.
Note that according to the results of December 2024, Ukraine’s international reserve increased by about 10%, up to $ 43.8 billion. This is a new historical record.
