The European Union has no intention of automatically expanding the regime of trade preferences for Ukraine after completing its action on June 5, 2025. It was announced by an European official, who was aware of negotiations between Kiev and Brussels, the reality of Europe on Wednesday reported on April 9.
According to him, after expiry of autonomous trading measures introduced in response to the full -scale Russian aggression, the trade will return to conditions operating until 2022.
“Starting from June 6, the autonomous trading measures -trade preferences for Ukraine, introduced by the EU after the start of the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation will end. The conditions will return to pre -war.
At the same time, the parties are already arranging about maintaining individual trading benefits for some categories.
The official explained that the additional European Union will continue the discussions to change Article 29 of the organization’s agreement between Ukraine and the EU to develop trade conditions as interesting as possible for both parties and support the Ukraine economy.
In particular, the choice is considered to leave preferences for the Ukrainian steel.
As you know, in May 2022, the EU council for the first time decided to cancel all duties and quotas to export from Ukraine to support in connection with a full -scale invasion of Russia. This regime was expanded in 2023 and in 2024.
At the same time, due to the unpleasantness of EU farmers, within a few months of 2023, he introduced temporary restrictions for certain types of agricultural products, and individual countries, in particular Poland, continued them unilaterally after cancellation at the European Union level.
