The National Bank plans that the next batch of coins will not be mininted at a cent, but in steps. At the same time, current pennies remain in circulation. This is said by the NBU Andrei Pyshny leader in an interview with the NV.
Now about 15 billion coins of different denominations are in circulation, of which more than a third are 10 and 50 kopecks. Each year, the National Bank lives in new coins to replace the fatigue.
“This year, at least 20 million coins have been planned on Mint. We want it to the next minting about coins, nominated not to a cent, but in steps,” said the amazing -Awa.
He explained that Penny will remain a payment tool in parallel with new steps.
“One cent will not be forced to remove. To replace only the coin that is removed from the circulation, the coin of the corresponding face value is forced to be minted, but by the name concentrated Ukrainian,” the National Bank leader added.
According to him, such a gradual replacement will prevent the cost of displaying old coins and will not require exchange or replacement from the Ukrainians.
“This will be a long process of organic replacement, it is not necessary to remove or flee,” he said.
Lush also emphasized the symbolic importance of this step: “We will finally cleanse from Ukrainian law everything that is at least somehow associated with Moscow.”
Keep in mind that there are no additional costs for developing sketches and mint measures, nor from the state budget, or from the National Bank of Ukraine’s budget.
