The agricultural sector grew by 7.41% due to agricultural production

Agricultural production increased thanks to the harvest of rice and potatoes.

Sector agricultural increased by 7.41% this month compared to the same month last year, driven by a 9.76% increase in agricultural activity and 1.73% in livestock production.

According to the report National Institute of Statistics and Informatics, the agricultural sub-sector saw significant growth with significant production of products such as paddy rice, potatoes, olives, avocados and others.

High productivity was achieved thanks to the area of ​​harvested hectares and climatic conditions, which allowed the development of the plant. Cold conditions and strong winds prevailed along the coast, while high humidity continued to prevail in the jungle region, contributing to more than usual rainfall; and in the mountains there were several rainy episodes that did not affect the normal growth and strengthening of crops

How is the harvest?

Thus, the percentage of production paddy rice amounted to 54.74%, including La Libertad (589.19%), Lambaeque (110%), San Martin (5.77%) and Cajamarca (25.41), regions that increased the yield, but in Amazonas it decreased by 6.80%. They are followed by Arequipa and Ancash, where it decreased by 45.25% and 14.07% respectively.

When dad whose production increased by 12.39%, INEI reported that the planted area increased by 8.85% influenced by soil moisture. The regions with the highest production levels are: Puno (6.70%), Cusco (35.51%), Ayacucho (91.21%) and Junin (1.49%). On the contrary, in La Libertad it showed a decrease of 29.38%, contributing to national production by 7.25%, as well as in Huanuco (-14.56%), Pasco (-32.68%) and Amazonas (- 29.55%) at night. temperatures have declined with mixed values, and precipitation has exceeded their historical records

Olives are the third most produced product, up 36.06%; that is, it has increased by 23 thousand tons compared to the same month in 2021 due to the larger acreage and favorable thermal conditions (from normal to higher temperatures), indicating greater fortification and better crop growth. Tacna was the top producer with a growth of 10.90%, accounting for 64.40% of national production, followed by Arequipa (153.40%), Lima (3.72%), La Libertad (0.42%) and Moquegua (66.26%); however, production in Ica declined by 87.01%.

Avocado production reached 188 thousand tons, an increase of 7.67% compared to what was achieved in the same month of 2021, and was affected by favorable weather conditions (from minimum to normal temperatures). La Libertad, with a variation of 8.59%, had the highest performance, followed by Lima 13.59%, Ica 5.67%, Ancash 1.47%, Arequipa 57.82%, Junin 15.29% and Huancavelica 43 .91%. By contrast, production declined in Lambaek (-0.88%), the second manufacturing department, followed by Cusco (-9.42%), Apurimac (-67.04%), Pasco (-33.37%) and Piura ( -82.80%).

Raw cotton production achieved an increase of 203.06%, which is associated with a larger sown area (50.75%) in the August-May 2020-2021/2021-2022 agricultural campaign and influenced by rains in some regions of the country, this behavior is reflected in the main production departments such as Ica (104.37%), Lambaeque (368.98%) and Lima (219.15%), which account for 88.4% of national production.
