World Chips sales in January 2024 rose 17.9% in the annual Calculus, reaching a record of $ 56.5 billion against $ 47.96 billion in January 2023. It was reported by the Association of the Semiconductor Industry (SIA).
Despite a slight decrease compared to December 2023 (-1.7% with $ 57.52 billion), the January indicator has been the highest for this month.
Sales growth was mentioned in North and South America, where sales increased by 50.7% compared to the same period last year. In China, sales of chips grew 6.5%, in Japan – by 5.7%, and in the Asian region -pacific – by 9%. The European market showed a reduction in sales of 6.4%.
Despite global growth, compared to December of 2023, a reduction in sales was observed in some regions: in North and South America – by 3.5%, in Europe – of 1.3%, in Japan – by 3.1%, in China – by 2%.
At the same time, in the Asia-Pacific region, the volume of sales of chips increased by 1.6%.
SIA includes about 99% of American manufacturers of semiconductors and about 66% of chips manufacturers from other countries.
As we have already written, after USMC chips who have seen USMC chips in Huawei technologies, the US has introduced new export restrictions for the Taiwanese company.
Remember that Ukraine plans to create the manufacture of chips. For this, funding is required for $ 1 billion. This is stated in the digital development strategy for innovative activities until 2030, approved by the Ministers’ Cabinet.
