The company is less than competitors, and consumers are looking for an alternative because of political scandals related to its leader.
In Germany, electric cars and hybrids are constantly famous, while sales of traditional fuel and diesel cars fall significantly. At the same time, Tesla, who specializes in the manufacture of electric cars, carries significant losses to the market. Spiegel reported this on Wednesday, March 5.
According to the German Federal Transport Agency, 35,949 new electric vehicles were registered in the country in February. It’s 30.8% more than last year’s February. At the same time, Tesla sales fell 76%, opposed to the total demand trend for electric cars.
Currently, electrical cars occupy 17.7% of the German car market, and hybrid models have become dominant vehicles with 38.2%. Demand for traditional internal combustion engines is reduced: new diesel cars make up only 15.8% of registrations, gasoline – 28%. For comparison, at the beginning of the year, of all registered cars in Germany, fuel was 60.6%, and 28% were diesel.
Despite the total increase in electric vehicles, experts have not noticed a significant success. The ey analysts note that the high growth rate of de -electric cars actually indicates only the restoration after last year’s collapse due to the removal of state subsidies.
In February, on the whole, the German car market was reduced: 203,434 cars were sold by all types of machines, which were 6.4% less than the past. Since the beginning of 2024, the total fall in sales was 4.6%.
Tesla also faces difficulties not only in Europe, but also in the main market – in China. In February, company sales fell 49% there, and Tesla shares lost 5% of the cost a day. Since mid -December, the company market capitalization has reduced more than one third.
Earlier it was reported that Tesla sales in France and Scandinavian countries dropped sharply in February, affecting part of the company’s market. While demand for competitors, in particular, Volkswagen and Toyota grow.
Remember, Tesla announced the collapse of annual sales. This happened for the first time in nine years. In 2024, Tesla delivered 1,789,226 cars worldwide, less than 1,808,581 cars in 2023.
