The main reason for the next price increase is called “a general reduction in the offer of potatoes to local farms.” As you know, many Ukrainian manufacturers have no capacities for long -term storage completion of the sale of potatoes in the first half of the current season.
So, from the beginning of the current week, the price of potatoes rose to 20-30 UAH/kg, which, on average, was 12% higher than the end of the last week of working.
At the same time, representatives of wholesale companies complained about the lack of required quantities of high justification potatoes in local farms. Farmers, in turn, associate problems of potato quality with adverse weather conditions during cleaning: long rainfall affects not only the form of potato goods, but also its leakage. Also, according to manufacturers, in 2024, many of them do not use the highest quality of material planting.
To date, potatoes in Ukraine, on average, are 16% higher than the end of January last year. It is expected that in the near future the growth rate of these products will significantly accelerate.
Note that in November 2024, potatoes in Ukrainian farms were reduced, on average, by 10%, to 18-28 UAH/kg.
