The average selling rate of the dollar in Ukraine decreased to 42.80 hryvnia, and the euro exchange rate decreased to 44.20 hryvnia.
The exchange rate of the hryvnia strengthened significantly against the dollar in the cash market for the second day in a row. RBC-Ukraine reported this in connection with monitoring data on Thursday, January 16.
The average selling rate of the dollar in Ukraine decreased by another 10 kopecks to 42.80 Hryvnia, the euro exchange rate fell by 5 kopecks to 44.20 Hryvnia.
Today, exchange offices buy a dollar for an average of 42.30 Hryvnia, and a euro for 43.50 Hryvnia.
In the interbank market, the American currency is at the level of 42.18-42.22 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) – a decrease of another 5 kopecks compared to the previous day’s close.
Yesterday, the National Bank reduced the dollar exchange rate against the hryvnia on Thursday after it rose the day before to the level of 42.2659 Hryvnia (-0.0075 UAH). The euro exchange rate is 43.5297 UAH (+0.2079 UAH).
Let’s remember that at the beginning of 2025, the demand for foreign currency in the interbank market will increase again. During the week of January 6-10, the NBU sold $1.039 billion. This is 40% more than last week.
It was also reported that at the end of December, Ukraine’s international reserves reached a new record – $43.788 billion. In 2024, reserves will increase by $3.273 billion, or 8.1%.
