In Norway, 88.9% of new cars purchased in 2024 will be electric cars. This is confirmed by data from the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV), reports Reuters.
In August, electric vehicles accounted for 94% of new car purchases by Norwegians. At this rate, Norway claims leadership among countries where traditional internal combustion engine cars will remain in the minority. By 2023, there will already be 28% “pure” electric vehicles.
It is noted that consumer choice is largely related to Oslo’s uniform policies, since gasoline and diesel cars are subject to high taxes, while electric cars, on the contrary, have exceptions from on import duties and VAT.
In addition, Norway does not have a single giant car, unlike countries such as Germany.
