Ukraine is ready to consider only the transit of gas originating from other countries and does not allow the Russian Federation to receive revenue.
Ukraine is ready to transfer gas to European countries if this gas does not come from Russia. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this at a meeting of the European Council in Brussels on Thursday, December 19.
“If a European country is ready to receive gas and not pay money to Russia until the end of the war, we can think about it But we will not give the Russian Federation the opportunity to receive additional income,” the leader of the state said.
Zelensky noted that Ukraine is also unhappy with the option of transferring gas from a country that, in turn, buys gas from Russia. “This is the same as the constant transfer of money to Russia,” he stressed.
The President also added that during a full-scale war, Ukraine’s energy sector has lost more because of Russian aggression than European countries.
As you know, the contract for the transfer of Russian gas through Ukraine, signed between Naftogaz and Gazprom, will expire this year. Ukraine will not renew the agreement.
