The average dollar selling rate increased to 42.05 Hryvnia, and the euro exchange rate increased to 44.35 Hryvnia.
The exchange rate of the hryvnia continues to decline against the dollar and the euro at exchange offices. RBC-Ukraine reported this with reference to market monitoring data on Wednesday, December 18.
The average selling rate of the dollar in Ukraine increased by another 5 kopecks to 42.05 Hryvnia, the euro exchange rate increased by 5 kopecks to 44.35 Hryvnia.
Today, exchange offices buy a dollar for an average of 41.55 Hryvnia, and a euro for 43.70 Hryvnia.
In the interbank market, the American currency is at the level of 41.88-41.93 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) – an increase of 5 kopecks compared to the previous day’s close.
Yesterday, the National Bank raised the dollar exchange rate for the second time in a row to a historical maximum – 41.8271 Hryvnia per 1 dollar (+0.0868 UAH). Since the beginning of the year, the exchange rate has increased by almost 4 hryvnias (10.1%) from 37.98 UAH/dollar on December 31, 2023.
The official euro exchange rate today is 43.9143 UAH (+0.1079 UAH).
Remind us that last week the NBU sold more than $1 billion in the interbank market – the highest volume in the past six months. Since the beginning of the year, the regulator has sold more than $31 billion.
As you know, on December 12, the National Bank unexpectedly increased the discount rate. The regulator made this decision in response to inflation rising to 11.2% in November.
