Serbia is in talks with Russia to extend its natural gas supply contract, which expires in March, and seeks to maintain supply volumes at the level of the current agreement with Gazprom. Bloomberg writes on Friday, December 6.
Serbia consumes about 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and receives about two-thirds of this volume from Russia’s Gazprom at competitive prices. Despite this, the country is working to diversify its energy sources, buying gas from Azerbaijan and opening a new route to a liquefied natural gas terminal in Greece.
Let’s recall that the Austrian oil and gas company OMV confiscated Russian gas as compensation for an arbitration award, according to which Gazprom had to pay 230 million euros.
