The objectives also include the introduction of joint control with neighboring states and the creation of a network of service zones.
Ukraine intends to seriously increase capacity on its western border. Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Sergei Derkach announced this on Facebook on Monday, November 25.
According to him, this is provided by the draft Strategy for the development of border infrastructure with the European Union and Moldova until 2030.
“Due to the full invasion, the load on the checkpoints has increased significantly, so we have to adapt the border to the current needs,” explained Derkach.
They plan to increase the capacity of border infrastructure by rebuilding existing checkpoints and building new ones, including roadways.
We are talking, for example, about the reconstruction of six checkpoints in Poland, three on the border with Slovakia, five in Romania, three in Hungary and 11 in Moldova.
We are also talking about the construction of new checkpoints, in particular, Bila Tserkva – Sighetu-Marmatiej, Bila Krinica – Klimeutz, Russkaya – Ulma and Shepot – Izvorale Sucevei on the Romanian border, Bolshaya Palad – Nagygodos, Diida – Beregdaroc – with Hungary.
The goals also include introducing joint control with neighboring states, reducing waiting time in queues and creating a network of service zones.
Let’s remember that the previous Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced the next steps to develop border infrastructure.
