The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal met with the mission of the International Monetary Fund, which continues to work in Kyiv, which, according to the prime minister, contributes to a better understanding of the country’s financial needs . The head of government noted that based on the results of the initial stage of negotiations, Ukraine completed the fifth revision of the EFF’s extended financing program at the end of October, completing all the beacon structures for the next stage. Therefore, the Ukrainian side is expected to receive the next tranche from the IMF in the amount of $1.1 billion by the end of December.
At the meeting, they discussed the implementation of the reforms stipulated in the memorandum of cooperation with the IMF, as well as the progress achieved by Ukraine in fulfilling the set requirements. According to Shmygal, the IMF highly appreciates Ukraine’s achievements on this path.
Issues of macro-financial stability and the need for external financing were also raised. According to the prime minister, the government has prepared the draft state budget for the second reading and has a clear idea of covering the main costs, relying on the support of the IMF, the World Bank, the US and the EU, especially through the Ukraine Program of the facility and the ERA instrument.
Let’s recall that on October 23, Ukraine received $1.1 billion from the IMF as part of the initial, fifth revision of the EFF program for 2023-2027. Its total amount is 15.5 billion dollars.
