Ukrainian products will be given priority in government procurement, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said.
Ukrainian officials are starting a policy of “real import substitution” in the food sector. We decided to start with fish. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported this on Wednesday, November 13, with reference to the head of the department, Vitaly Koval.
According to him, most of the government procurement structure is imported food products. In particular, government agencies now often supply fish from other countries.
Koval believes that the diet of those who buy food with public funds should include Ukrainian fish. Moreover, last year alone the state bought almost 40 billion Hryvnia worth of imported fish. We are talking about hake, pangasius and others.
“Our goal is to change the government’s procurement policy in favor of Ukrainian fish, for example, in the diet of the Ukrainian Federation, hake can be replaced by silver carp and grass carp in terms of energy values, the types of fish are not inferior to imported ones, this will have a positive effect on the country’s balance of payments, will create additional demand for fish grown in Ukraine and will give impetus to the development of the industry,” Koval said.
He added that patriotism should be shown in all areas, and the economy is no exception.
We remind you that the National Cashback program is operating in Ukraine. Ukrainians receive compensation for the purchase of Ukrainian products. In October, citizens received three times more payments than in September.
