The gender composition of the company was affected by the mobilization, as about 10 thousand men were mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Among the staff of the Metinvest group of companies, women make up about 30%, and their number is growing. The press service of the holding reported this on Thursday, November 7.
It is indicated that Metinvest representative Zoya Heinze took part in the Eighth Ukrainian Women’s Congress in Kyiv on the discussion platform “Business vs. State. Hope vs. Reality.”
According to him, historically, the mining and metallurgical complex (MMC) has been dominated by men, because the industry involves physical labor and work in difficult or dangerous conditions. But today about 30% of women work at Metinvest. And their number is growing: the gender composition of the company was affected by the mobilization, because about 10 thousand men (almost 17% of the personnel) were mobilized in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
So, Metinvest recently opened the first team of women in a mine in Pokrovsk: women operate mining equipment and are very proud of what they do to support the Ukrainian economy, says Zoya Heinze.
Also at Metinvest, women occupy the positions of crane operator, electrician, electrician, etc.
“The percentage of women working in Metinvest businesses continues to grow. This gives reason to believe that they are ready for new realities, ready to master new professions,” said Zoya Heinze.
He also noted that the share of women who decided to study at the first non-state mining and metallurgical university, Metinvest Polytechnic, is increasing: now their share is 20%.
Earlier it became known that Metinvest is experiencing a lack of specialists for male professions, so it is actively retraining women. But the company believes that to attract more women, the state must build a safe infrastructure for children.
