The established priorities and goals of such a conservative industry as the mining and metallurgical complex became irrelevant on February 24, 2022, said Alexander Mironenko.

Metinvest Holding changed its work priorities after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is what the company’s operating director Alexander Mironenko said, its press service reported on Tuesday, November 5.

It is indicated that Mironenko took part in the CEO 2024 summit held in Kyiv. He performed on the block Insights for SEOwhich discussed the challenges and opportunities in 2025.

According to the leading manager of Metinvest, the investment and production medium-term planning, established the priorities and goals of such a conservative industry as the loss of relevance of the mining and metallurgical complex on February 24, 2022.

Mironenko said that since the beginning of a large-scale war, Metinvest has identified three main work priorities: the safety of employees and the maximum provision for people in the battle zone, the maintenance of production capacity and the safety of company. Based on these priorities, Metinvest developed its work organization system.

“We had the most terrible experience in Mariupol we took people from the surrounded city, put them in Zaporozhye, Kamensky, Krivoy Rog and tried to adapt them and use them in active businesses,” said by Mironenko.

He said that in Krivoy Rog the company mothballed businesses located near the front line and evacuated employees. A similar algorithm of action was applied to businesses in Zaporozhye, and in Avdiivka the company worked until the summer of 2022, until the front line approached the city. Now the “hot” direction is Pokrovsk: every two weeks the management of Metinvest visits enterprises to take care of the staff.

According to Mironenko, in order to avoid losing the team and maintain production capacity, the company developed its own safety protocols. And Metinvest organized the production of products for the army, in particular, shelters, mine trawls and other necessary products for the front, in separate places outside the enterprises – so that people are not exposed in danger.

“Alexander Mironenko considers the main qualities for business managers to be effective CEOs of fighting the courage to make quick decisions and responsibility for them, because each decision can affect both production and people’s lives,” the press service wrote.

We remind you that for the nine months of 2024, Metinvest increased the payment of taxes and fees to UAH 15.2 billion, or by 38% compared to the same period in 2023.
