Before the imposition of sanctions, Iran Air served flights to Vienna, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn.
Iran Air has stopped flying to Europe following the introduction of European sanctions. The director of the Iranian Air Carriers Association, Maksoud Asadi Samani, announced this on Tuesday, October 15, writes the Iranian agency ILNA.
“The only airline in our country that flies to Europe is Iran Air, and given the new EU sanctions against Iran Air, no Iranian aircraft will fly to Europe after this,” he said.
Maksoud Asadi Samani added that the flights of the Iranian air carrier in the European direction are in great demand among Iranians and suggested that the flights to the EU will continue, but on the planes of foreign airlines or will be carried out through connecting flights in Turkey and UAE.
As you know, on October 14, the European Union approved sanctions against seven people and seven organizations, including Iran Air, for their involvement in Iran’s supply of ballistic missiles to Russia. It also includes Saha Airlines and Mahan Air and Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Seyed Hamza Ghalandari.
The UK also added nine new sanctions to its Iran sanctions regime.
Earlier it was reported that Iran expressed dissatisfaction with the new EU and UK sanctions against Tehran and rejected the supply of ballistic missiles to Russia.
