The reason for the increase in potato prices remains the increased demand from wholesale companies.
In Ukraine, potato prices are setting new records. The EastFruit project reported this on Monday, October 14.
It was noted that in early October potatoes were sold for 15-20 hryvnia per kilogram, last week the price rose to 17-22 hryvnia.
The reason for the increase in prices in this segment remains the increased demand from wholesale companies that continue to buy these products for storage. At the same time, in some regions, due to heavy rains, potato harvesting is quite complicated, which further supports the increase in prices for these products.
Carrots are also more expensive than last week. At the same time, the increased supply of white cabbage forced sellers to reduce selling prices. The increased supply of medium and low quality onions in the market also caused the price to drop.
Prices for greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes continue to rise. Tomato prices are the highest in the past seven years. The price of sweet chilies decreased slightly.
Prices in the fruit and berry segment have changed only for a few items. Prices for pears and grapes continue to rise.
The most expensive item sold was plums than last week. At the same time, the price of watermelon decreased slightly, and the price range for melon widened.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine started importing potatoes from Poland and Lithuania.
