Ukrenergo has accumulated three times the stock of repair equipment compared to the norm in preparation for winter. The acting head of the company’s board, Alexey Brekht, spoke about this at the Business Energy 2024 forum, organized by Forbes Ukraine.
“We have a full range of relevant electrical equipment, there is a reserve emergency fleet of transformers we are likely to be ready this winter, more than ever, for all possible situations – to respond to them immediately well,” said Brecht.
He separately described how the experience accumulated by the company’s employees significantly accelerated the time frame for the restoration of damaged equipment.
“In the last massive missile attack, four of our 750 kV substations were hit And we restored their operation fully within 13 days to come and start carrying out this work And we have almost everything we need on the site that needs to be returned – it depends entirely on how long it takes to install an autotransformer in three weeks, bringing it from another region three weeks, believe me, no one will do this in their life that I did not make records that could match our colleagues,” said Brecht.
Earlier it became known that Ukraine’s international partners, within the framework of the Energy Support Fund, financed the purchase of distributed generation equipment with a capacity of 170 MW.
Also in Ukraine, the construction of protective structures on the third level at 22 substations of Ukrenergo has started, but due to high costs, only one or two things will be finished.
Shmygal also assessed the readiness of protective structures at Ukrenergo facilities as more than 85%. The work is still ongoing.
