Ukraine’s foreign trade deficit increased by more than 5%

According to customs information, in the first nine months the country’s trade turnover reached $81.9 billion. Imports of goods in Ukraine reached $51.2 billion, while exports reached $30.7 billion.

During the nine months of 2024, Ukraine’s foreign trade deficit in goods reached $20.5 billion, which is 5.1% more than in the same period in 2023. This is confirmed by data from the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

Total trade turnover reached $81.9 billion.

According to customs information, in the first nine months the country’s trade turnover reached $81.9 billion. Imports of goods in Ukraine reached $51.2 billion, while exports reached $30.7 billion.

Of taxable imported goods, $42.5 billion was registered, which is equal to 83% of total imports.

Main importing countries:

  • China: $10.3 billion,

  • Poland: $5 billion,

  • Germany: $3.9 billion.

Exporting countries:

  • Poland: $3.6 billion,

  • Spain: $2.1 billion,

  • Germany: $2.1 billion.

Of the total volume of imported goods, 65% are:

  • machinery, equipment and vehicles – $17.7 billion,

  • chemical industry products – $8.8 billion,

  • fuel and energy products – $6.8 billion.

The three largest categories of exports from Ukraine include:

  • food products – $17.9 billion,

  • metals and products made from them – $3.4 billion,

  • machinery, equipment and transportation – $2.5 billion.
