The agreements provide for infrastructure development, modernization of rail communications and increasing the efficiency of cross-border cooperation.
Based on the results of intergovernmental consultations, the governments of Ukraine and Slovakia signed four important documents covering cooperation in the political, economic and agricultural spheres, as well as support for Ukraine’s sovereignty. Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal announced this on Monday, October 7.
The agreements provide for infrastructure development, modernization of rail communications and increasing the efficiency of cross-border cooperation.
As the head of government mentioned, we are specifically talking about:
-
strengthening political dialogue and building good neighborly relations
-
support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine
-
evidence of progress in the implementation of three major projects: reconstruction of the interconnector, direct rail links and modernization of border infrastructure
-
development of cooperation in political, economic, energy, defense, restoration, humanitarian, educational, scientific, medical and other fields.
“We expect European integration support for Slovakia in the agricultural cluster in particular, bringing our legal framework to European standards,” added the head of the Ukrainian government.
Earlier it was reported that the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal met with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico in Uzhgorod.
It became known the other day that Robert Fico intends to assure Ukraine not to stop the transit of Russian gas and oil after 2024. In his opinion, “both Slovakia and Ukraine will benefit from this.”
